Consent and storage
We respect the ePrivacy approach common across the European Union. This page names the building blocks we use, why they exist, how long you can expect them to last, and how to reopen the choices panel if you change your mind after the first visit.
We use the term to cover HTTP cookies, local storage entries, and session storage that behave in a similar way, plus small scripts that read or write that data. Some tools that marketing teams call “tags” or “pixels” can still respect the same opt-in model when they place identifiers on your device. We do not use cookies to take decisions about you that the law classifies as “solely automated” with significant legal effect.
These are needed for the page to work as you expect, for example to remember that you have already made a choice in the cookie banner, to protect forms from simple abuse, or to keep a load-balanced session on our host. The banner on this site does not let you turn these off, because doing so would break basic functions. They are not used to track you for advertising in the background of other sites.
If you enable this category, we or our processors may place identifiers that help us see which pages are read most often, how long visits last on average, and which referrals brought people in. The aim is to improve structure and text, not to build a name-by-name dossier. You can turn this off at any time from the same panel you used to accept it.
If you enable this category, we may use tools that help us understand whether a campaign that pointed to this site was effective. This can involve measuring visits from a specific link, without selling your data as a “lead list” to others. We only load such tools after you have chosen this option.
We keep a small record in local storage to remember consent for up to twenty-four months from the time you set it, unless the law or a security incident requires a longer, documented hold. You can open Cookie settings in the site footer to change categories without waiting for that period to end.
Every current browser can delete cookies and block third-party storage in a general way. We still provide our own switchboard because a wide block can sometimes remove storage we need to remember a genuine “no” to marketing.
